UK Online is for everyone. It is a drive to enable everyone in the United Kingdom to gain access to the internet by 2005 and to make the United Kingdom one of the world's leading knowledge economies.
This partnership between local and national government, industry, the voluntary sector, trades unions and consumer groups aims to make technology clear and easy to use.
We have been successful in bidding for funds to build a new UK Online Centre at Marks Gate, creating a fully integrated community resource with a library and learning centre linked to the existing community hall and other facilities.
We have secured funding for an extensive and exciting range of UK Online Centres across the borough. The centres will contain the latest technology and enable people to experience the internet over a broadband network.
Online courses in IT and basic skills will be available via Cambridge Training and Development and Learn Direct. The Adult College are developing courses for the European Computer Driving Licence and Cisco Networking.
The Centre at Parsloes Avenue is bigger and differs slightly from the other centres. While being situated on the Sydney Russell School site, it has its own separate entrance and also offer a nursery for parents who wish to use the centre, as well as provision for full day nursery care.
3 centres are based at Age Concern venues:

The online facility at The Vibe will be modelled on the Cyber café at Farr Avenue, which has proved to be a big hit with young people.
