Bing Crosby dreamed of a White Christmas, but one lucky local resident is already enjoying a Claret and Blue New Year.
Catherine Kiernan of Dagenham won the Citizen competition for a VIP ticket for 2 to see West Ham United play Fulham in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday 12 January 2008.
The competition, in the December 2007 issue of the magazine, proved hugely popular with Hammers fans in the borough.
As well as the VIP ticket, the club has kindly laid on a 3-course carvery meal with wine, match day programme, corporate gift bag, pre-match entertainment, tea and coffee at half time, and after match drinks in their Premier Suite.
Catherine was one of more than 200 people who correctly answered that the Barking-born English international who captained both West Ham and Fulham in the 1970s was Bobby Moore.
To the 2 unlucky individuals who answered Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters respectively, better luck next time!
To see how Catherine and her guest enjoyed their big day out, please check out the February issue of Citizen, or revisit the website in the week commencing 14 January 2008.
Also celebrating are Pip Field and Dee Frenais, who each won a copy of 'Foul Deeds and Suspicious Deaths in Barking, Dagenham and Chadwell Heath' by local authors Linda Rhodes and Kathryn Abnett in the competition in the same issue.
Tuesday 8 January 2008.
