Exploring the concept of 'microurbanism', the Children's Centre is designed to span its immediate context of suburban housing and tower blocks and to echo the recent industrial heritage of Dagenham. Sustainable features include exterior wrapped in an aluminium rain screen with concealed metal-framed windows providing natural ventilation. Canopies shade internal spaces allowing filtered light to pass through.
