Barking and Dagenham Crime Down

 

Latest figures released by Scotland Yard show that crime is down in Barking and Dagenham.

 

The total number of incidents fell from more than 21,300 in 2006-2007 to just 19,536 in 2007-2008. This has resulted in an 8.7% decrease in crime across the borough with almost 2,000 less incidents taking place.

 

The biggest fall in the figures has seen 340 less residential burglaries, down 28.4%, 186 less robberies, down 23.1% and 503 fewer reports of criminal damage, down 13.6%.

 

The figures show that joint initiatives run buy the Council and the police have made a real difference to combating crime in the borough and Safer and Stronger Community Partnership is committed to reducing crime and the fear of crime to make our Borough a safer place to live and work.
