Barking and Dagenham Council's website goes from strength to strength after being commended by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) for Accessibility, one of only 5 local websites in the country to receive an award.
The Council's web team received the top award last month at the Arsenal Emirates stadium in north London.
The commendation highlighted the website's ease of use, its layout and the quality of information that is available to the local community and anyone in the world who logs on to the internet site.
This latest accolade follow the Council's commendation in March, as one of the top 20 local authority websites in the UK by the Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM) Better Connected survey of public sector websites.
Councillor Shaun Carroll, Executive Member for ICT and Modern Ways of Working, said:
"I am delighted that our website has been recognised as one of the best in the country.
A great deal of thought has gone into designing our internet site so that it is welcoming, easy to use and informative providing round the clock council access.
And things are set to improve further with the addition of more video with subtitles enabling users to have a more personalised interaction with the council."
