There are 1484 days left to the London Olympics, which start on Friday 27 July 2012.
'We want London 2012 to provide a more skilled and healthier population, a more successful economy, a stronger and more involved community, improved buildings and facilities, including new leisure facilities, and good-quality housing that meets our community's needs'.
As a Gateway Olympic Borough, Barking and Dagenham is leading the way in bringing about the many changes that will transform the lives of the borough's residents as well as those which will improve the experience for visitors.
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will provide Barking and Dagenham residents with a huge number of opportunities and that is why we have adopted the strapline - Your Borough, Your Games, Be Part of it! We want everyone to be involved.
The Games will be one of the largest events ever to be held in London and will provide a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Over the next few years the wealth of benefits in the borough will include new high-quality sports facilities, more opportunities to participate in sport, modernised and extended transport facilities, job opportunities and the regeneration of the Thames Gateway.
