Homescape

Homescape is the second dance project, as part of the A13 Artscape Project, initiated and managed by East London Dance, which began in 1999 with the site-specific work 'Roadworks'.

Homescape is created with local primary school children, directed by dance artist Rosemary Leein collaboration with film-maker Nic Sandiland and poet Chrissie Gittens.

Child-centred and child-led, Homescape aims to both celebrate each individual child as they are, whilst opening up their potential creativity during the working process.

These aspects are explored through dance, poetry, the spoken or written word or another visual form.

The residency seeks to build the children's confidence and to instill a sense of awareness and pride in their local community and their own identity.

The artist created a film installation which was exhibited in local public spaces in summer 2001.
