What A13 Artscape consists of

Artworks are in addition to the Transport for London Improvement works, which consist of the underpass at Movers Lane, works to the central reservations, junctions, slip roads and structural improvements.

The arts project - starting at Movers Lane to the west of the borough, at the border with Newham, through to Goresbrook Interchange and the flyover at Dagenham, has achieved consistency in the design and installation of the following:

To achieve this, a lead architect was appointed, along with 14 different artists and design organisations, all of which were paid a professional fee.

The majority of the costs have been spent on contractual fees due to the nature of the project.

For example, the projects 'off' the A13, in Dagenham and Thames View, required their own contractors and some of the projects 'on' the A13 have required a 'sub-contractor' to achieve the schemes.

It has been essential to ensure that the project is entirely appropriate for public interaction, use, play or the constant environmental onslaught of vandalism, pollution, traffic weight and vibration.

The project has however remained on budget, in some cases coming in under budget.
