The Arts Programme and Cultural Development are working in partnership with 'Ground Work Hackney' - an environmental regeneration charity making sustainable development with communities.
The project is for schools local to Goresbrook Park and aims to provide opportunities for young people between the ages of 5 and 11 to engage in environmental arts projects.
The projects are designed to give young people the chance to develop their creative potential through an enhanced awareness of the park's natural surroundings and the community they live in.
Young people will be invited to take part in a range of activities from building their own sculpture out or recyclable materials, to image making with digital cameras as well as treasure hunts and alternative sports events and opportunities to develop orienteering skills.
The focus for the work is not only for young people to enjoy themselves in the surroundings of the park, but to develop their awareness of issues about their safety and the safety of others and how the affects of crime and vandalism in community spaces like the Goresbrook Park can have an impact on all members of the community.
Through these projects young people will also gain insight and knowledge about how nature is affected by change and how our natural surroundings can have an impact on the way we think and feel about life.
Is to engage young people positively in the use of Goresbrook Park by creating links with schools and community partnerships, and to encourage young people to develop an awareness of the environment and develop their understanding of difference within their current perception of living in a community.
