The library service subscribes to a number of online services, bringing information to your door!. You can also practice for your driving theory test and Life in the UK Citizenship test online too. You can access any of these services using your Barking and Dagenham library card number from any internet connected computer. Scroll down this page to find and log in to all the services available.

 

These services are free to Barking and Dagenham library members, so to access them just type in your full library card number at the library card login option on each site and begin searching. The services available are:

150 reference books are available from our Credo Reference service. If you are looking for information on the arts, business, geography, medicine and social sciences this is a good site to use. The subject coverage is similar to Oxford Reference but includes most other major publishers. It can also link your search to our online catalogue. Credo titles available.

Oxford Reference online. The premium collection contains over 100 dictionary, language reference, encyclopaedia and the Oxford Companion series of books searchable online. Encyclopaedia Britannica

The world famous encyclopaedia available in 3 versions.

The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography website has biographies of 50,000 people who shaped the history of the British Isles and beyond from earliest times to the year 2002. Just enter LBBD then your library bar code number in the library log in box.

The online version of the current Who's Who and Who Was Who. It contains over 33,000 short biographies of current famous people, and biographies from the who's who archive. Just enter LBBD then your library bar code number in the library log in box.

The full Oxford English Dictionary available online. It is known as the most comprehensive dictionary of English in the world. Just enter LBBD then your library bar code number in the library log in box.

Issues Online - The UK's first comprehensive reference source with articles addressing contemporary social issues. For example rights and discrimination, drugs, crime and the environment. Very useful for school projects and general interest.

 

Theory Test Pro in partnership with London Borough of Barking and Dagenham|

Driving Theory Test Pro|

If you are learning to drive a car, motor bike, passenger vehicle or heavy goods vehicle, Theory Test Pro is a highly realistic online simulation of the UK's driving theory test. It contains the entire official test question bank, hazard perception video clips and an online version of the Highway Code.

 

All this material is licensed from the Driving Standards Agency. the people who set the test. It's free to use, but you do need to register so sign up and have a practice (you will need a Barking and Dagenham library card an email address and registration on the site is required).

 

GoCitizen.co.uk in partnership with London Borough of Barking and Dagenham|

Go Citizen is an online study resource for people preparing for the Life in the UK test or British citizenship test.

 

It is a comprehensive study package. It includes an online version of the latest official study materials licensed from the Home Office, the people who write the handbook plus hundreds of practice test questions in the same format as the official test (you will need a Barking and Dagenham library card an email address and registration on the site is required).

The Oxford Music Online website has online information on musical styles from Baroque to Hip Hop, and information on musical instruments from around the world and features sound clips. Just enter LBBD then your library bar code number in the library log in box.
