Parks and Countryside

We have many parks, in fact 16 of them and 700 acres of open land.

Central Park in Dagenham is a vast expanse of verdant space; a collection of windswept fields, towering birches and meandering paths, all surrounded by a wrought iron fence. It is a central feature of the town and each year hosts the annual town show, the circus and all types of events.

Barking Park is very similar to Central Park. These green spaces as well as providing valuable aesthetic appeal also host migrating wildlife such as wildfowl, geese and ducks. They are also home to permanent residents, squirrels.

Barking Park and Central Park are also noted for their vibrant colour during spring and autumn and feature lakes with resident waterfowl and opportunities for boating and other activities.

Council Staff ensure that there is a wide range of flowering shrubs, herbs and other plants and bushes looking their best all year round.

On a smaller scale Parsloes Park offers the same open green spaces and trees for filming in a typically tranquil English park.

Visit the Parks and Countryside web pages for further information and location maps.
