Children's Centres aim to improve the way local services are delivered to young children and their families in Barking and Dagenham.
Children's Centres aim to improve outcomes for children and young people so that they can:
Barking and Dagenham now has 14 centres in operation with more to follow. Most centres are sited on, or next to a school site and within easy walking distance of the families using them. Children's Centres are not only about what happens in the building. Outreach work takes place in the home, and other services are delivered though community venues as appropriate.
We work in schools through the extended services initiative, and services are also delivered in partnership with health providers, neighbourhood management, local voluntary organisations, childcare providers, childminders and job support and training providers.
