Licensing

Hairdressers Licences

We are no longer responsible for licensing hairdressers. Since the Deregulation and Contracting Out Act 1994, the need for hairdressers to be registered has been eliminated.

However, other salon activities such as Ear Piercing, Electrolysis, Tattooing and Acupuncture, and the employment of employees still need to be registered.

General information

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 is the key act which will affect all commercial concerns, whether self-employed or an employee, and whether mobile or based at a Salon. Under this Act a number of Regulations have been made.
