Conditions of Tenancy - Chapter 14

Furniture

This section applies to tenants living in furnished accommodation. When you sign this tenancy agreement, we will give you a list of furniture we provide.

You, your friends and relatives, and any other person living in or visiting the property (including children), must not do the following.

14.1 Sell, rent or give away any of our furniture. If you do, we will ask the court for permission to evict you. We will also ask the court for a money judgement order for you to pay us compensation for the furniture.

14.1a It is a criminal offence to sell, rent or give away our furniture. If you do this, we will tell the police and may charge you the cost of replacing the furniture.

14.1b A money judgement order may affect your ability to get credit in the future.

14.2 Deliberately damage or vandalise our furniture.

14.3 Move out any of our furniture from the property without our written permission. You, your friends and relatives, and any other person living in or visiting the property (including children), must do the following.

14.4 Let our employees and contractors come into the property at reasonable times to inspect the furniture, or carry out repairs.

14.4a We will inspect the furniture every 3 months.

14.5 Pay for the cost of repairing any damage to our furniture (however it is caused), apart from fair wear and tear which you, any other person living in or visiting the property, or your or any other person's pets, have caused.

14.6 Tell your local housing team immediately if our furniture in your home needs to be repaired and if we are responsible for doing that repair.

14.7 Leave all our furniture in the property in a good condition when you move out of the property. We will inspect the furniture before you leave. We may charge you for broken and damaged items.

14.7a We recommend that you insure any furniture, including furniture we rent to you.
