The East London Housing Partnership is a collection of east London local authorities comprising Barking and Dagenham, Hackney, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and the City of London.
The Partnership was formed on the basis that problems of high housing demand and limited supply in the east of London, cannot always be resolved within local authority boundaries.
It is in 1 of 5 sub-regions in London where neighbouring authorities cooperate on best practice and policy in the provision of new affordable housing and other areas such as the allocation of housing, tackling overcrowding and the prevention of homelessness through joint initiatives.
It also reflects how some funding decisions are now made in line with priorities identified at a sub-regional level in London and where grants awarded by the Housing Corporation require some lettings to be offered across the sub-regional rather than just within the individual the individual local authorities.
The East London Renewal Partnership is made up of the same east London authorities and deals collectively with private sector renewal issues such as bringing empty properties back into use and making private sector homes decent for vulnerable occupants in this tenure.
The team works from the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham and Newham. For information on the programme of the Partnership, visit the East London Housing Partnership website.
