Will my child be safe in school?

Please consider your child's journey to school and make arrangements that both you and your child are happy with:

Safety in schools

Primary schools are very conscious about access to the building. These schools all have secure entrances that lead to the school office and access is closely monitored.

Each school will have its own policies agreed by the Governors on matters like behaviour, discipline, anti-bullying, anti-discrimination and health and safety.

It is recommended that all school staff including non-teaching staff have Criminal Records Bureau checks.

It is recommended that Head Teachers only use staff from agencies that automatically check with the Criminal Records Bureau.

It is recommended that Head Teachers Criminal Records Bureau check volunteer workers even if the volunteer is a parent of a child on the school roll.

Head Teachers ensure that the ratio of adults to children is correct.

The Head Teacher will ensure that there are qualified First Aiders in school.

Head Teachers and school governors attend safer recruitment training.
