Mobility Schemes

The Mobility Section manages or is involved in several schemes to help elderly people and people with disabilities with mobility problems.

The various schemes help people who are living in the community stay independent by providing travel opportunities that may not otherwise be available to them.

Concessionary fares for elderly people|

The Freedom Pass allows unlimited free travel on all of London's buses and tube networks after 9am until 4.30am, Monday to Friday.

Concessionary fares for people with disabilities|

The Freedom Pass is for people under the age of 60 who have a permanent disability that imposes a mobility problem or who are registered as blind.

London Taxicard Scheme|

The scheme is for those people who are unable to use any form of Public Transport.

Blue Badge Scheme|

The Scheme provides a national arrangement of parking concessions for people with severe walking difficulties who travel either as drivers or passengers.

Parking Facilities|

We can agree to provide parking facilities to help people with disabilities. These facilities could be a painted parking bay in the road or on the pavement.

Related Transport Services

Community Transport|

A number of Community Transport services operate within the borough. These provide transport for members of the community who do not have suitable public transport services available for their travel needs.

Personal Transport|

The Motability Scheme was established to provide disabled people with safe, reliable and affordable cars.

Special Educational Needs travel support|

In some cases students with a special educational need or a disability can apply for travel support to help towards the cost of travel to school.

For more information and advice regarding any of the above mobility schemes mentioned, please contact the Mobility Section.
