Adult and Community Services

Telecare - Assistive Technology

An introduction to Telecare

Telecare is an exciting new pilot scheme within our borough, funded by a grant received from the Government. This will support our community to remain safe in their own homes using state of the art technology.

Residents over the age of 18 who have received a community care assessment and have eligible needs (under Fair Access to Care Standards) may be able to receive Telecare through Adult and Community Services.

Because Telecare is a pilot scheme we will be collecting information on how well this works for our residents. At this time the service is being provided free of charge to meet the eligible needs of people as a part of this project.

It is likely that we would introduce a charging policy for this service if Telecare proves successful in maintaining people's independence.

If you would like more information about Telecare, please contact telecare@lbbd.gov.uk or 020 8227 3000.
