Change of name by Deed Service

If it is not possible for us to change or amend your child's name on the birth certificate you may consider changing your child's name by Deed of Change of Name.

Barking and Dagenham Register Office is pleased to offer a Change of Name by Deed Service delivered by our selected partners, The Name Change Company Limited.

A Change of Name Deed for 1 person, adult or child, costs £33. Any additional Deed's you purchase at the same time cost £23 each.

For full details of the Deed of Change of Name service and to apply, visit the Name Change Company Limited website.

A Deed of Change of Name will not change the original birth registration. The Deed should be kept with the birth certificate and this will provide evidence that the child is being brought up in a surname different to that recorded in the birth registration.
