Fishing

There are several places within the borough where fishing is permitted. Before planning a fishing trip here is some useful information:

You will need an Environment Agency rod licence before you can fish anywhere in the UK. It is against the law to fish without one and a maximum fine of £2,500 can be imposed
A rod licence can be obtained from your local post office or via the internet at the Environment Agency website
It is your responsibility to check that fishing is permitted where you are planning to visit. If you are found to be fishing in a prohibited area you can be prosecuted for poaching and a breach of the local byelaws

There are 2 different types of fishery in the borough, membership only lakes and day ticket fisheries. Here are lists of the places where fishing is permitted and contact details for enquiries.

Tom Thumb Lake - Eastbrookend Country Park Local Nature Reserve|

Day ticket fishery tickets are issued on the bank.

This is a members only fishery you must be a member of Bardag Angling Club in order to use this service.

Valence Moat - Valence House Museum grounds|

Day ticket fishery tickets are issued on the bank.

Eastbrook Pond and Chase Waters - Eastbrookend Country Park Local Nature Reserve|

For day tickets for the fishery please contact the Ranger Service at the address shown.

Hooks Hall Pond - The Chase Local Nature Reserve|

This is a members only fishery - this is closed at present.

Boyers Lake - Beam Valley Country Park|

This is a members only fishery, you must be a member of Boyers Angling Club to use this service.

For further details please contact the Ranger Service at the address shown.

All other lakes and waters in the borough are not managed as fisheries. If you are unsure of your right to fish or have any queries please contact the Ranger Service for assistance.
