Forest and Woodland Management

The Arboricultural Services section has within its remit the responsibility for woodland and tree-related issues for us, partner organisations and the public.

In April 2003, we were successful in securing a Local Public Service Agreement performance grant from Communities and Local Government. The grant was awarded to increase woodland areas in the borough from 13.95 acres to 22.35 acres. The completion date for this planting was March 2006.

In total, the borough will have planted 9.63 acres of woodland by January 2006.

Contracts have been awarded to specialist forestry company Tillhill Forestry Limited and preparation for planting started in September 2005, with the actual planting commencing in November 2005.
