Eastbrookend Country Park and the Millennium Centre

The country park is open throughout the year and is easy to get to by public transport. We encourage people to take part in quiet, informal leisure activities (for example, walking, bird-watching and fishing), and guided walks and events (see below) are an excellent introduction to the park.

The Millennium Centre is an education centre acting for visitors to the country park and the nearby Chase Local Nature Reserve.

School and group visits

Visits are available throughout the year and are led by a member of staff from the Ranger Service or London Wildlife Trust. You should book well in advance. Schools should book over the telephone, but all other groups should write to us to book a visit.

If your group is planning an unaccompanied visit, you should contact us for advice on ground conditions and related health and safety information.

Guided walks and children's events

We run a programme of guided walks and events throughout the year. These are all led by a member of staff or suitably qualified person. You can get leaflets about the events from the Millennium Centre, from libraries and public buildings throughout the borough, or by telephoning us.

Disabled access

The Millennium Centre and most of the country park are suitable for disabled people and people in wheelchairs. You can contact us for more information about accessibility issues, for example current ground conditions, or if you have any specific questions.

Community use of the Millennium Centre

The centre is available for members of the public and community groups to use. If you have any questions, please write to the Visitor Education Ranger.

Consulting the community

We are committed to providing high-quality facilities and welcome suggestions from people who use our services. We consult customers and people in the local community through the Eastbrookend Support Group and the Playground Consultation Programme.

Inspecting parks

We inspect all parks in the borough regularly. How often we inspect the parks depends on the category of park. If there are problems, we will deal with them ourselves or report them to the relevant officer.

Play areas (parks only)

We inspect all play areas in parks regularly. We will report any faults to the relevant officer. When necessary, equipment may be fenced off or removed for safety reasons. We will plan and arrange refurbishment and new equipment when funding is available.
