We opened a brand new wheel park at Castle Green in July 2005. This fantastic new facility which has been funded by Communities and Local Government can be used by wheeled sports such as BMX, skaters, inline skater (bladers) and roller skaters.
The park was opened by the Leader of the Council, Councillor Charles Fairbrass MBE who praised the efforts of the RUBIK Youth Group and Goresbrook Residents Association who have been calling for a skate park for some time.
Situated in the south-east corner of Castle Green Park and to the side of the new Jo Richardson School, this facility is open daily and floodlit until 9pm. CCTV will be in operation at all times to monitor use of the wheel park.
Other community facilities nearby which will be open to the public in coming months include a sports hall, dance studio, fitness studio, floodlit pitch, children's centre, adult education, arts activities, library, Connexions, conference facilities and hospitality.
