Penalty Charge Notices

What are penalty charge notices?

Parking tickets issued by us are called penalty charge notices. They are issued when a driver parks their vehicle in contravention of parking regulations.

From Monday 31 March 2008, all enforcement activity relating to parking regulations and restrictions is carried out in accordance with the Traffic Management Act 2004. Civil Enforcement Officers (Parking Attendants) and CCTV cameras issue penalty charge notices to vehicles identified as parking in contravention of regulations and restrictions.

A penalty charge notice is referred to as a being a PCN.

Penalty charge notices are not connected to fixed penalty notices, which are issued for criminal offences and are issued by the Metropolitan Police and their Traffic Wardens.
