By law, every year we must write a monitoring report on the local development framework. We are still preparing the local development framework, which will become the plan for how we use land and space in the borough.
We need to collect evidence to prove that we have achieved our planning targets. This can help us to make sure there is a better quality of life for everyone, now and in the future.
Our yearly monitoring reports must report on how we are doing in preparing the local development framework and whether we are on target for it replacing the unitary development plan.
Our yearly monitoring report collects evidence on how we used land and space in the borough from April 2006 to March 2007. Our main findings were as follows:
Over the next 15 years, we want to build more than 20,000 additional homes. We want to make sure that more of these homes are larger homes for families. When we build additional homes, we need to make sure that there will be enough schools, doctors and public transport to get people to their jobs. We also want to create communities that have less impact on the environment and who use their vehicles less. We have also found that:
