Refuse and Waste

Revised Collection Dates|

For Bank Holiday period in August 2008.

We need your help to make our borough cleaner, greener and safer. We are committed to improving our environment and want to encourage you to be proud of the borough.

Join us in our Cleaner, Greener and Safer Campaign to change attitudes towards the environment and help to make our borough a great place to live, work and visit.

Your household waste

We help you to manage your household waste by collecting your rubbish regularly.

Since October 2006, the way we collect your rubbish has changed. This means we will collect your orange and black bags together in the same vehicle.

This will reduce the amount of vehicles on the streets and harmful emissions produced, it will also save taxpayers money. The money saved will be reinvested in keeping our borough clean.

We will still recycle all the waste from your orange bags and so we still need you to recycle all your household waste.

Please remember your collection dates, if they change we will tell you in advance and put your rubbish out near the boundary of your property.

Green garden waste collection scheme

Your Green Garden waste scheme has now re-started. Find out more about the green garden waste scheme.

Glass Recycling Scheme (Blue Boxes)

Your glass recycling scheme started on Monday 16 June 2008. Find out more about the glass recycling scheme.

Wheelie Bin Pilot

We are trialling a wheelie bin project in 5 areas of the borough. Residents in the pilot areas will be delivered grey wheelie bins to help them dispose of their household waste.

Area Managers

We are pleased to introduce a new service within the Waste Management Section. We now have 6 Area Managers in place who are responsible for their allocated area within the borough.

Keep your street clean

Do your part to help keep our streets clean and free of litter. We offer a variety of services including clearing up spillages, disposing of abandoned vehicles and removing graffiti.

We enforce the law

The law protects you and our environment from harm. Enforcement will be taken if you break the law, for example dropping litter or obstructing our streets, roads or alleyways; fly post or graffiti private or public areas; fly tip; dog foul; abandoned a vehicle or damage property.

We need your help - the Cleaner, Greener and Safer Campaign
