Recycling

Orange Bags

You can recycle all types of paper, food and drinks cans and plastic bottles in the Orange sacks. Collections are made on the same day as the normal rubbish collection. Orange sacks for your recyclables are delivered free of charge on a quarterly basis.

The Orange Bag scheme, operated by Shanks East London and launched in June 2003, reaches most households in the borough and recycling of household materials has rocketed since its introduction. Collection rates have risen from 3% of household waste to more than 14% in the period June 2003 - June 2005.

If you run out of collection sacks before the next delivery, you can either ask the collection crews for some more, collect them from the venues listed or contact the recycling centre at the address shown.
