GO, The Barking and Dagenham Learning Gateway, is a learning platform based on Microsoft Portal Server technology. It provides online communication, collaboration and content publishing tools, together with an e-portfolio for all children and students.
It will give every school the ability to have both staff and pupil websites which are integrated with Microsoft Exchange email and calendars, management information systems and other web services and systems.
GO will also provide a means by which vulnerable children may access additional resources and support in a secure and yet flexible online environment.
Other sites within the Learning Gateway will be used by subject teams within the advisory service to deliver an attractively presented and easy to use collection of curriculum resources, guidance, links and support materials for teaching staff and pupils and students of all ages.
We have set challenging targets for schools to adopt the Gateway, which have been derived from the Government's e-Strategy, and for all of the existing content currently published on the Community Grid for Learning intranet to be migrated to the Gateway.
The Learning Gateway is designed and published in-house by the Learning Gateway Manager.
Content is maintained and published by the ICT in schools team and the various curriculum teams.
