Council tax

Council tax is a charge made by the council in order to part fund the many services that it provides to the community. Services include rubbish collection, recreation facilities, libraries, education and Adult and Community Services.

Most homes are subject to the council tax. There is 1 bill per home, whether it is a house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, mobile home or houseboat, and whether it is owned or rented.

Within the amount of council tax is also provision for services provided by other local authorities.
