The Finance and Resources department leads and supports the council in the development of efficient and effective services for our local community. It has corporate responsibility for the golden thread of policy, priorities, financial planning and budgetary control, commissioning, performance management and audit assurance and risk.
It is also responsible for ensuring best employment practices are used, that information and communication technology is used to transform service delivery and that the Councils assets and capital resources are used to the maximum effect for the benefit of the residents of the borough.
The department is particularly concerned with the duties to secure and demonstrate best value in the provision of services to our local communities and the achievement of sustained savings and efficiencies in the council's use of its resources and doing things in a lawful manner.
It is also very concerned about ensuring that the way we manage our financial and other resources accords with best practice and is reflected in all external inspections including our overall assessment by government appointed inspectors.
The department is led by the Corporate Director of Finance and Resources who with other corporate directors are responsible for the administration of the council in consultation with the Chief Executive and the Monitoring Officer.
