Careline

Careline emergency alarms

Careline is a 24 hour emergency call system. If you are an older person or have a disability, Careline alarms can help you to live independently and safely in your own home.

Who can use Careline?

You can use Careline if you live in the borough and feel at risk in your own home because of illness, age, disability, or isolation.

How does it work?

The Careline alarm unit is simply connected to a standard telephone landline. There is an emergency call button on the Careline unit but the control can also be worn as a wrist band or neck pendant. This means you can call for help even if you aren't near your telephone.

Alarm calls are answered by an operator at a central control centre. The operator can then arrange help as soon as possible. They can contact your chosen emergency contact (usually a friend or relative), call the emergency services, or call out someone from our specially trained visiting service if they are needed.

If you press the alarm button accidentally, the operator will simply check that you are safe and well.

How much does it cost?

The Careline services costs £3.79 per week. If you are on benefits or income support, you can use Careline for free.

How do I apply?

You can contact the Careline team or fill out an Application form.
