Voluntary sector grants 

The Council funds a range of community activities within the borough. Applications are invited from eligible groups for the current funding opportunities shown below.

The Barking and Dagenham Council for Voluntary Services are funded by the Council to provide advice and support (including funding advice) to local community groups.

Celebrate St George's Day in Style with your Neighbours!

Following the success of last year’s St George’s Day street parties, we are once again encouraging local people to hold street parties to celebrate St George's Day (23rd April) .

All groups need to do to receive help from the Council is to complete a simple application form about who you are and your street party idea. It will need to be returned by Thursday 28 February 2013 at the very latest. Successful applicants will be awarded up to £450 to hold a Street Party on or around Tuesday 23 April 2013.

The Council will provide each street party with a toolkit that will include decorations and ideas and guidance to help make your party a success. The more creative you are the better but also please make sure your idea is feasible and affordable. Keep it safe and simple to avoid road closures or other complicated arrangements.
