Licensing

Annual licences

Fees charging policy
Where a licence is granted within 6 months of the usual expiry date, the full annual fee is not charged.

Instead, the licence is granted for a period of 1 year plus 1 to 6 months, and expires on the usual expiry date of the following year. The fee charged is the annual fee plus a pro rata amount for each additional month. (Part months are counted as whole months).

When the licence is granted during the first 6 months of the licence fee year, the full annual fee applies.

(This policy came into effect on 1 April 2001).

Please note: The issue and expiry dates of certain types of licences are laid down by central government.

  • Fees charging policy
For certain types of licence, an 'occasional' licence cannot be granted.

All applications have to go to various agencies and departments within the council for consultation. We cannot guarantee that a licence will be granted.

The fee will be calculated by the date of the event, not the date of the application or the date received by the council.

    Public Entertainment Licences only
If an application to waiver the fee is being made, a fee waiver form must be sent with the application.

(This policy came into effect on 1 April 2001).
