Services at children's centres for children with additional needs 

For parents with children with additional needs, children's centres provide a chance to meet with other mums, dads and carers, to get advice about the other services that are on offer and for children to take part in fun activities.

There are 18 children's centres in Barking and Dagenham offering inclusive services.

Heathway Centre 

The Heathway Centre delivers services for children with disabilities and additional needs. The building has been designed to be fully inclusive and includes a full track and hoist system, a wet room, a hearing loop and adjustable height cooker.

Shining Stars 

 
A club that offers fun, inclusion and support to children with additional needs and their families.

Sensory rooms 

 
Special quiet places with a range of stimulating equipment to help children explore the world using all of their senses.

Child development checks 

 
The development check will cover general development, including movement, speech, social skills and behaviour, hearing and vision.

Benefits and housing advice 

 
Advice about benefits including Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and carers allowance.


A platform to share 

 
A group run by parents to support parents of children with additional needs.
