Type 2 Diabetes Services
17 April 2013
The Health and Adult Services Select Committee made 10 recommendations to improve the consistency of standards across GP surgeries in relation to delivering annual health checks, consider how young adults can be better supported to manage their condition, and improve screening and diagnosis of diabetes.

How the Housing Service Manages Anti-social Behaviour

The Safer and Stronger Community Select Committee made 15 recommendations to ensure that Housing Services is able to contribute to the prevention of anti-social behaviour through better information sharing and a more integrated approach.  

The Emerging Private Rented Sector in Barking and Dagenham

The Living and Working Select Committee made 11Recommendations that are intended to improve education in schools, produce high profile community campaigns, develop local intelligence, share equipment with neighbouring Boroughs and be more rigorous with enforcement.

Smoking Cessation Scrutiny

The Health and Adult Services Select Committee made 16 recommendations that it hopes will contribute towards Reducing smoking prevalence, improving quit rates, and changing engrained local attitudes towards smoking.

Antisocial Behaviour Scrutiny

The Safer and Stronger Community Select Committee looked in detail at Antisocial behaviour perpetrated by and against young people. 16 recommendations were identified to assist in preventing antisocial behaviour, to change perceptions adults have of young people, and find facilities young people can use for leisure activities.

Dementia Services Scrutiny
24 March 2010
The Health and Adult Services Select Committee looked in detail at Dementia services. 21 recommendations were adopted by the Assembly on prevention, identification, early intervention and treatment, living well with dementia, care in hospital and end of life care. 

Supported Housing for Older People Scrutiny
24 March 2010
The Living and Working Select Committee looked in detail at Supported housing for older people. Nine recommendations were adopted by the Assembly on the decommissioning of old housing stock, improving housing solutions for people with learning disabilities and those suffering with dementia, and giving older people more choice about where they live.

Facilities and Activities for Children and Young People Review

Scrutiny Management Board set up a Scrutiny Panel in November 2007 to look into the range and quality of Facilities and activities for children and young people in the borough

GP Services Review
5 January 2009
In September 2008, Scrutiny Management Board created a panel of Councillors and community representatives to investigate the Level and quality of doctors' services available in the area. This investigation was carried out because local people asked Scrutiny to consider it in detail.

Places of Religious Worship and Associated Community Space Policy Review
14 October 2008
The Scrutiny Management Board started this Scrutiny Panel in November 2007 in response to a number of requests from religious organisations asking the Council for support in finding Buildings for religious worship and associated community use.

Children's Trust Scrutiny Review
8 October 2008
The Panel looked at how well the Children's Trust was working and what had been achieved since it started. A number of witnesses were called to give evidence, including Council officers, Children's Trust partners and other experts. We also got benchmarking and best practice guidance from London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
