Transferring from infant to junior classes 2012
If your child is currently attending year 2 at one of the borough's infant school's you must apply for your child's year 3 place at their linked junior school. The full process is outlined on pages 34-35 of the Road to Learning booklet and is brief is as follows.
If you want your child to attend their link junior school, you do not need to fill in an application form, as we will do this on your behalf. If you would prefer your child to go to another school you must then fill in the ‘Year 2-3 transfer form’ which is available at your child’s infant school from 7 November 2011.
If you have a child that lives outside the borough they want to attend their Barking and Dagenham link school they do not need to do anything further. However if they want to apply for different schools, they must apply to their own Local Authority for a junior place by 15 January 2012.
If you live in this borough but your child attends an infant school outside Barking and Dagenham, please contact the school or borough about their admissions procedure. If they have confirmed you need to apply through your home local authority you will need to fill in our ‘Year 2-3 transfer form’. Please email us with your name and postal address at admissions@lbbd.gov.uk and we shall send you the relevant form with instructions.
All local authorities will notify parents of the decision by post on 18 April 2012, for any applications they receive. Any child that has not been offered a place at their link school will be allocated a school that is the nearest to their home with a vacancy.
Please note that parents requesting a place at William Ford, under the faith criteria (priority 2 or 5), they will need to fill in the ‘Year 2-3 transfer form’ and the school’s Supplementary Information Form (SIF). This is because the governors of William Ford Church of England Junior School are responsible for deciding places. Once the SIF form has been completed parents will need to forward the information directly to the school. Any child attending Village that did not get a place at William Ford will be notified by the admissions team in writing.
