Pest Control Fact Sheets - Grain Weevils 

• Grain beetles are mainly found where food has been stored for a long time
• They attack such foods as cereals, flour, biscuit mixes, macaroni, dried meat and fruits

• The beetles are oval shaped, dark brown in colour and about 3-4 millimetres long and shiny in appearance

• Remove all dishes and food from cabinets
• The beetles need to be killed before you throw out the foodstuffs as they will re-infest
• Foodstuffs stored in paper, waxed paper, metal and some glass containers can go in the oven for 1 hour at 135°F or in the freezer at 0°F for 6 days to kill all stages of the beetle
• Store food in containers with tight fitting lids
