A new Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Barking and Dagenham is a real opportunity for health and social care services to refresh their commitment to improving the lives of local residents. We have produced this draft Strategy, and this is your opportunity to help shape it.
In Barking and Dagenham our residents are not as healthy as they should be. Compared to other parts of the country they don't live as long, with many dying earlier from cancer or heart disease. Our Strategy sets out a vision for improving the health and wellbeing of residents and reducing inequalities at every stage of people's lives by 2015. It also describes how we will strengthen the join-up between services, improve their quality, and bring health and social care 'closer to home' for our residents.
Such ambitious action needs widespread commitment from across the public, private and community sector in the borough. We have already shaped the Strategy with the involvement of key local stakeholders, but it is crucial that we throw this wider, and hear as many views as possible on whether we have got the Strategy right.
Please read through the
Strategy and take this opportunity to fill out this short survey. It will ask you about whether we have got the priorities right, as well as the actions to meet those priorities. The Strategy is based on the evidence in the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, which has a dedicated website to which you can refer if it is helpful.
We would like your feedback before 8 October 2012.
