Local Service Centres

How can I bid?

In order to bid, you will need your registration number, date of birth and the reference number of the property on which you wish to place a bid.

You can bid through the website or through the dedicated hotline on 0845 650 4125 (charged at the local rate), or by text on 07781 486 526 (message charged at the standard rate)

When bidding closes the bids received for each property will be ranked by priority according to our housing allocation policy.

Within each group, applicants with the same level of priority will be ranked in 'Effective date order'. By this we mean the length of time they have been waiting with that priority.

You can apply (or 'bid') for one property that matches your requirements each week. The bidding period (or bidding cycle) runs from Thursday midnight to Monday midnight.

There is no advantage to placing your bid early as bids are ranked in priority in accordance with Barking and Dagenham's Allocation Policy, not the time you have placed your bid.

On occasion an application may be deferred. This could be due to a successful bid being placed and we are waiting to hear the outcome of a viewing, or further assessment is required on your application.

What happens if I am successful?
