  • Headteacher (HT) - Responsible for providing overall strategic leadership and, with others, lead, develop and support the strategic direction, vision, values and priorities of the school.
  • Deputy Headteacher (DHT) - In addition to carrying out the professional duties of a teacher, the deputy headteacher has a major role to play under the overall direction of the headteacher

 

  • Teacher - Required to plan and teach lessons and sequences of lessons to the classes they are assigned to teach.
  • Teaching Assistant - Set out learning resources in line with the preparation requirements that has been provided by the teacher.
  • Student Support Worker - Plays a major role in the prevention of exclusion through individual and group programmes as part of the Inclusive Strategy adopted by the school. .

 

  • Office Staff - Receive telephone calls and deal with enquiries from parents, staff, outside agencies, etc politely and efficiently, passing on messages as appropriate. Using Word, Excel, or other IT packages as appropriate to produce letters, documents, reports, minutes, forms etc for Senior Leadership Team and other staff as required.
  • Caretaker - To ensure the smooth management of school premises with regard to security, cleaning, maintenance, health and safety. To ensure that the school building is an ideal environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
  • ICT Technician – Provide technical support and advice with the running of the school IT networks. Oversee the maintenance of the IT equipment. Provide support to staff and students using IT equipment.

 

We recognised that a dedicated Recruitment and Retention Service is essential to support schools with the recruitment, appointment, support and retention of good quality teachers. Good recruitment strategies lead to higher rates of retention.

Historically, there was a shortage of high calibre teachers actively seeking to work in this locality. The Recruitment and Retention Team was therefore set up by the Council to raise her profile with the widest possible audience, locally, nationally and internationally.

Services to Head teachers
Recruitment and Retention offer only one top level service which will provide schools with the following; 
  • Attendance at national and international University / teacher training institution recruitment fairs
  • Recruitment service for trainee teachers to have placements in schools.
  • Recruitment service for Newly Qualified Teachers.
  • Recruitment service for main scale / middle leadership teachers.
  • Recruitment service for employment based routes into teaching.
  • Recruitment service for specialised posts.
  • Assign Points Based System Certificates of Sponsorship (Tier 2) for overseas trained teachers’ employed by LA Schools in accordance with UK Border Agency criteria.
  • Assist when required with Senior School Leadership posts.
  • Work with Local Authority officers as well as outside agencies such as neighbouring Local Authorities and / or the National College regarding School Leadership, Development and Succession Planning.
  • Keep up to date with new initiatives and any funding that may be available to teachers
Retention
  • Assign extension Points Based System Certificate of Sponsorship (Tier 2) for overseas trained teachers employed by LA schools in accordance with UK Border Agency criteria.
  • Professional development for overseas trained teachers.
  • Develop a range of pastoral activities.
  • Work with schools on School Leadership Development and Succession Planning.
Housing
  • Strategic and line management of Butler Court teacher residence / staff.
  • Promote Government Housing initiatives amongst new teachers within the LA.
