The two libraries closed on Tuesday 5 October 2010 and services relocated to Dagenham Library on Wednesday 13 October 2010.
Where can I park my car at the Heathway? I heard it's a car-free development
You will be able to use the pay and display Mall car park.
I'm disabled and there is no car parking in the Heathway
There are disabled bays available in the Mall car park and four disabled bays diagonally opposite on Dagenham Avenue. There is also a disabled drop off and pick up point at the side of Dagenham Library in Church Elm Lane.
I live near Fanshawe library but I'm disabled - how will I get to the new one?
There are good transport links to the new library, but if you are unable to get to it you also have the choice of registering to join the Home Library Service which brings books to people who cannot get to the library.
Is the library separate from the benefits office in the new building?
The Library and One Stop Shop are in one building, the main adult library is on the first floor and the One Stop Shop is on the ground floor. The children's and youth library is situated on the ground floor alongside the One Stop Shop.
What are the opening hours of the new library and One Stop Shop?
Opening hours are from 9am to 7pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9am to 5pm, Friday and Saturday. The One Stop Shop area will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.
What happened to the books within these closed libraries?
The book stock transferred to the new library, alongside new stock bought specifically for this new library.
I do not like the design of the new building
We have consulted with local people on the design of the new building. It aims to complement the local environment while making a positive contribution to it. We have incorporated resident comments into the design, which is contemporary but accessible. The library is fully accessible for disabled people.
Is there internet access at the library? How many computers are there?
There are 48 computers available to the public with internet access and Microsoft Office packages. The computer service is available on subcription or for guest usage sessions. There is also provision for Wi-Fi access to those who come in with their laptops.
