Beach 2012 is now open in Barking 

The Mayor and Mayoress of Barking and Dagenham join in the fun at the Beach 2012 launch

Barking Town Square has, today, been transformed into a beach and is already proving to be a popular attraction amongst young and old.
Back by popular demand, Barking and Dagenham Council is very pleased to have included Beach 2012 as a part of its summer Cultural Olympiad offer this year, offering local people a great activity to get involved in throughout the summer holidays.

Beach 2012 is open every day, until Sunday 2 September between 10am and 4pm and offers a packed programme of activities, family playtime and beach parties.

Activities include, Olympic and Paralympic sports, sand sculptures and sand castle competitions; there is also music and entertainment, a beach bar, and deckchairs for those simply wanting to soak up the sunshine and relax!

The Streetbase Youth Bus is there every weekday between 11am and 1pm, and every Saturday is a themed beach party.

Beach 2012 was officially launched today by His Worshipful the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Cllr Tony Ramsay, who said: “Beach 2012 is a fantastic offer to local residents.  It is guaranteed to provide lots of fun and entertainment to all the family and has already proven to be popular today.  I hope that many families will get to come along and enjoy the beach during the summer holidays”.
