Our gritting teams have been working hard treating the main routes through the borough. As a result our highway network has been running well. We have also been able to grit many footways to make it safe for residents getting to shops and doctors surgeries and keeping open routes to schools where possible. Unfortunately we cannot grit every road and footway in the borough and we ask residents to take care and help where possible.
Our gritting teams are also continuing to treat the routes for refuse collections, as well as re-treating secondary routes. Some refuse routes may be disrupted, so please bear with us while we continue to work hard to keep them clear. The following link contains advice which is issued by the Department for Transport on clearing snow and ice from the pavement outside your home or public spaces.

The Council has a range of services that offer help and advice to those most in need including vulnerable adults, and during times of bad weather rings round to its known service users to check they are ok. If you have an elderly or vulnerable neighbour please do keep an eye out for them.
If you suspect that they are at risk or are being neglected please call the Intake and Access Team on 020 8227 2915 during office hours, or outside of these times on 020 8594 8356. For handy tips on how to keep warm please visit: http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/winterhealth/Pages/KeepWarmKeepWell.aspx
