  • We will regularly post new information during business hours, Monday to Friday, about what’s going on in Barking and Dagenham, so that you are first to learn about our latest news.  We’ll keep you posted about ways to have your say, and get involved.

We will try to reply to all direct messages on our wall as much as possible, but if you have individual circumstances or complaints we will direct you to the appropriate Council department, who will be able to help.

  • We want to let you know what’s going on, and hear what’s important to you.  We hope that you enjoy receiving our latest news first.  However, we do have to make sure that our page isn’t offensive to others or unlawful in any way and so we reserve the right to remove, without notice, any posts which we feel are inappropriate.

Please remember to be civil, tasteful and relevant when you are posting comments on our Facebook wall.

    In particular do not:

    • post messages that are unlawful, libellous, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, obscene, profane, sexually or racially offensive.
    • swear.
    • post overtly party political comments.
    • post content copied from elsewhere, for which you do not own the copyright.
    • post the same message, or very similar messages, more than once (also called 'spamming')
    • publicise your, or anyone else’s personal information, such as contact details.
    • advertise products or services.
    • impersonate someone else.

  • Please take care not to make libellous statements.  In law, this means a statement that lowers the reputation of a person or organisation in the eyes of a reasonable person.  By publishing such a statement we can both get into serious trouble.  We will therefore take down any statement that could be deemed to be libellous.

  • In the six week run up to an election – local, general or European – councils have to be very careful not to do or say anything that could be seen in any way to support any political party or candidate.  We will continue to publish important service announcements using Facebook but may have to remove responses if they are overtly party political.

  • Our Facebook page is not intended to be used by the media to contact the council.  If you have a media enquiry, you should contact the Media and PR Team.
