Community Music Service

Music in the community

The Community Music Service, are the Local Education Authority Music Service.

We aim to support the musical development of young people and adults in the borough.

We are based at the Music Centre, Adult College, Fanshawe Crescent.

We have a team of musicians who work in all schools across the borough to provide musical instrument and singing lessons and music curriculum projects and support.

Our work is supported by a wide range of groups, orchestras and choirs which take place at the music centre every evening.

A Saturday music school also provides extra opportunities for instrument lessons and groups.

Services

From September 2005, more music activities, events and classes will take place at Castle Green.

These include:

Adult music classes
Borough concerts
A rock and percussion school on Saturday mornings

Opening hours

Monday to Friday: 9am - 6pm

Saturday (term-time only): 9am - 1pm

Performance facilities

We have a wide range of community facilities available to support and develop your talents.

These include:

A performance hall with a stage, and sound and lighting systems
Music practice and performance rooms
A recording studio
