Deputy Youth Champion Update
My name is Samuel and I was elected as deputy youth champion for Barking and Dagenham. My role is to represent all the youths of Barking and Dagenham in the process of getting their voices heard and acted upon in producing a better, safer and more exciting borough.

Prior to my election, I stated that as Youth Champion, I would like to make a positive change to people's lives.

I would insist on recycling bins in every school to reduce Barking & Dagenham's carbon footprint; which will not only allow us young people to clean up the streets and reduce litter but also re-construct Barking & Dagenham’s image to a better and more enviable environment, promoting a positive image of us since we are often and unfairly labeled negatively by adults.

Being elected as Deputy Youth Champion, I have taken my role seriously in terms of representing you. I have attended regular meetings both as Deputy Youth Champion and a member of the forum offering ideas to elevate our borough’s services for young people. I have also attend a UK Youth Parliament meeting to introduce myself with other Members of Youth Parliaments from different borough’s in London as a sign of friendship and unity. I have also embarked on my quest for recycling bins by contacting every school in the borough towards the facilities they are providing as a school towards recycling.

My plans for the future are to continue my recycling project, continuously offer advice to Councillors regarding new services and activities that would entertain the youth of Barking and Dagenham in the leisure time and work very closely with my other colleagues to bring out the best we possibly can to make a positive change to Barking and Dagenham that would be the foundation of greater opportunities for young people.

Check this space in the next four weeks for more info about how I have been representing you.
