The Head of Adult Commissioning is responsible for needs assessment, social work, occupational therapy, care management and support, and access to a wide range of effective, value for money services.
Adult Commissioning Services work across the whole Council and with many different partners to promote independence and well-being. Our service commissioning is increasingly based on population needs assessment and good information including systematic feedback from residents and staff. We will take a lead role in market management and developing diversity, capacity and choice in social care.
The health and social care system is being transformed by the introduction of the Single Assessment Process, initially for older people and now for adults with disabilities and long-term conditions. Our reforms also encompass implementation of the social model of disability and achievement of the Local Government Equality Standards.
We have direct responsibility for:
People normally contact us through the Adult Intake and Access Team and assessment and care management teams. However during 2007 our 'front door' will become Barking and Dagenham Direct accessible by telephone or one stop shop.
