The main responsibilities of the Housing Strategy Division are:
We are responsible for providing affordable housing to all current residents and people wishing to live in our borough.
Dealing with housing needs and planning|
We aim to ensure that enough types of homes are available to all borough residents and that they are of a good standard.
We work with developers, local communities and others to make sure local areas have the chance to benefit from regeneration opportunities such as the building of new homes on unused land.
We are responsible for developing strategies for the prevention of homelessness and easing the pressures homeless people go through. We also develop housing strategies for vulnerable groups of people such as black and minority ethnic communities, Older and Young People and the Disabled.
We are responsible for making sure the government targets for future planning and building of good quality housing is achieved. We do this in partnership with other council departments, external organisations and government departments.
The Housing Strategy Division is led by the Head of Service who is supported by 4 group managers, each responsible for different activities.
