Democracy and Partnerships

The division comprises 3 groups:

It has corporate responsibility for the Council's Constitution and all political structure arrangements.

The division is the main link with elected councillors. Mayoral arrangements are also dealt with.

Policy support is provided to the council and the Barking and Dagenham Strategic Partnership is facilitated to deliver the Community Strategy and the Local Area Agreement.

The division is responsible for internal and external communications and for all marketing activity.

The Divisional Director of Legal and Democratic Services has personal corporate responsibilities for 2 important elements of our work - Scrutiny, and Standards and Ethics, and is also our Whistle Blowing Officer.
