Information, Communication, Technology and e-Government's main aim is to transform the business through IT (Information Technology) solutions.
In order to achieve this we provide all the necessary skills and services needed to run such a large and complex organisation. By the use of multiple teams we are able to support all departments and ensure a flexible approach to providing solutions to the many and varied business needs.
ICT is a key tool within the council and we ensure that is it researched, developed and exploited to provide access to data and information across the borough to enable e-services and information.
The division comprises 9 sections:
This section works closely with departments to define ICT solutions to business needs. Focused on project and programme management, research and development the team ensure the business needs are explored and developed in line with customer and corporate requirements. This section also exploits existing systems such as Oracle.
This section handles all the administration needs for the division. This includes procurement, balanced scorecard, invoicing through to time and absence monitoring.
The section has been established to drive forwards the e-government agenda across the council to ensure 100% of services are provided electronically by the council and to deliver the priority outcomes detailed in the Implementing Electronic Government Statement that are based around improving electronic services to all our customers.
This section provides support, advice and guidance to all users throughout the council. This ranges from identifying business solutions through to project management and assisting with queries regarding email, word processing and spreadsheets.
The section is also responsible for the installation, configuration and support of the desktop environment and provides first line support for departmental solutions such as Swift in Adult and Community Services and Flare in Customer Services.
This section provides our communication infrastructure for both voice and data. This includes links to all remote sites including schools and external service providers.
This section is where all the routine processes take place, including information security and integrity, daily backups of data, tape movements, large volume printing and electronic transfer of financial data to and from the banks.
This section provides a high volume print service to all departments, this includes lithographic work as well as reprographics, a finishing service is also available i.e. folding, collating binding etc.
This sections is divided into 2 teams, 1 providing the support and updates to the Oracle E-Business Suite of software, and the other supporting and developing the many systems within the borough.
This section supports the infrastructure hardware. This includes all servers used for corporate applications, e.g. Oracle, Email etc, located in the Civic Centre Computer Suite.
They are responsible for designing, implementing and developing the solutions to virus protection, firewall etc, and provide technical support to all of the other sections in the division. They also research and develop new technology focusing on business requirements.
